Course Descriptions

Courses are available at several different levels – college preparatory, honors, and advanced placement – to ensure there is a course level to fit the personal needs for each of our students.

College Preparatory Courses

Most courses at St. John Neumann Catholic High School are categorized as college-preparatory or "college prep." These courses are designed for the typical student enrolled in grade-level classes. College preparatory classes will prepare students to enter colleges and universities across the United States.

Honors Courses

Honors courses are designed to meet the needs of academically advanced students who are highly motivated. To qualify for honors classes, a student must meet specific GPA and test score requirements, and also demonstrate independent study skills, multi-tasking skills, and a commitment to exceptional academic achievement. Honors courses are allotted an additional 0.5 points toward a student's GPA.

Advanced Placement Courses

Advanced Placement, or AP, courses at St. John Neumann Catholic High School are designed to present college-level material and prepare student's to take the College Board sponsored Advanced Placement (AP) exam at the end of the course. Most universities will award college credit based on successful AP exam scores, but it is recommended to check with the desired school for their requirements.
