St. John Neumann Catholic High School

is committed to providing our students with a rigorous, College preparatory education, rooted in Gospel values and the educational philosophy of St. John Bosco.

We create a unique personalized learning environment that prepares each student to positively impact the world through faith, integrity, intelligence, personal responsibility, joy and selfless service.

Credo Statement

The Salesian Religious Order of Teaching Religious Sisters

and a dedicated lay faculty are fully committed to following St. John Bosco’s “Preventative System” of educating students through reason, religion, and loving-kindness.

St. John Neumann is part of the Diocese of Venice, Florida but we are also a Salesian high school and are blessed to have multiple Salesian Sisters as part of our faculty, including our Principal.

The Salesian Oratory Model is built around (4) pillars and this oratory embodies the culture of our school and is the woven into our mission statement. We believe a school should be more than just a “school”…it should be:

a Home where young people feel welcomed, known, loved, supported, and safe;
a School where caring faculty challenge students academically and help them become good Christians and honest citizens of the world;
a Church that gives meaning to life and provides an environment that supports the student’s prayer and spiritual life;
a Playground where students can celebrate life and build lasting friendships, find inspiration for creativity and and experience positive energy and joy in Christ.

St. John Bosco said, “Before you can reach students’ minds, you must first reach their hearts.”

We believe in God, our loving Creator and Father;

We believe in the intrinsic value of the human being as created in God’s image and called to be his child. This includes all persons and excludes any forms of racism and other discrimination.

We believe that the deepest purpose of each man and woman is to create, enrich, and share life through love and reverence in the human community. This motivates our open and relentless pursuit of truth. For this reason, we foster reverence for life in all its human potential.

We believe that we should support all persons in their free and responsible life-sharing through family and social systems, and through political, scientific, and cultural achievements.

We believe that we must strive for a human community of justice, mutual respect and concern. In this context, we must cultivate, respect and care for our planet and its resources.

We believe that laws exist for the benefit and well-being of individual persona, that legal systems must express the common good, and that all government must be subject to the courageous, though respectful and loyal, criticism of intelligent and responsible citizens.

We believe that the law of justice and love must regulate the personal, family, economic, political, and international life of all persons if civilization is to endure. We believe in the teaching and example of Jesus Christ.

Salesian Identity

St. John Bosco

was inspired to create a vast movement of persons to bring the Gospel of Jesus to young people and to work for the benefit of the young. He founded the Society of St. Francis de Sales (Salesians of Don Bosco) and the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters).

The Salesian method is based on reason, religion, and loving-kindness, the three principles of Don Bosco’s educational system.

Through their work with youth, especially in the field of education, the sisters create a serene, family-like environment.

The Salesian Sisters work with youth encouraging them to take on leadership roles with one another.

They encourage the young to become good Christians and honest citizens.

Safe Environment Training

The Diocese of Venice engages First Advantage as the provider of fingerprinting, criminal background screening, & data management services.

All lay employees, priests, religious, deacons and those volunteers working with children and vulnerable adults are required to complete Background Re-Screening every 5 years from their initial screening.

All interested volunteers must complete this process before they can volunteer with students on campus.
