Courses are available at several different levels – college preparatory, honors, and advanced placement – to ensure that there is a course level to fit the personal needs of all of our students.

College Preparatory Courses

Most courses at St. John Neumann Catholic High School are categorized as college-preparatory or "college prep." These courses are designed for the average student enrolled in grade-level classes. College preparatory classes will prepare students to enter colleges and universities across the United States.

Honors Courses

Honors courses are designed to meet the needs of talented students who are highly motivated. To qualify for honors classes, a student must demonstrate independent study skills, maturity, a proven ability to multi-task, and a strong commitment to academics. Honors courses are allotted 0.5 points toward a student's GPA.

Advanced Placement Courses

Advanced Placement, or AP, courses at St. John Neumann Catholic High School are designed to present college-level material and prepare student's to take the College Board sponsored Advanced Placement (AP) exam at the end of the course. Most universities will award college credit based on successful AP exam scores, but it is recommended to check with the desired school for their requirements.

To qualify for AP courses, a student must demonstrate independent study skills, maturity, ability to multi-task, a strong commitment to academics, high-level performance on PSAT, and have a recommendation of the department chair/and or guidance. AP classes are allotted 1.0 points toward your GPA.
